PINNY FOR A DOLLY PATTERN
Pinny for a Dolly (Beth) is a dinky wee pinafore to fit the anatomically correct dolls many toddlers have.
Sized to fit a dolly with a chest circumference of 28cm.
This pattern is an accompaniment to the Beth Pinafore pattern for girls.
Little girls love to wear pinafores, and they adore it when their dolly wears something to match!
MATERIALS
40g/70m 8ply/DK weight yarn (main colour)
10g/20m 8ply/DK weight yarn (contrast colour)
(yarn should be wool or a wool blend to ensure the finished garment can be blocked)
EQUIPMENT
30cm 3.5mm + 40cm 5.0mm circular needles
3 stitch markers
2x 10mm buttons (if you choose to use them)
darning needle (for sewing in ends)
GAUGE
20sts/10cm on 3.5mm needles in garter stitch

cdd..........central double decrease - slip 2sts together, k1, pass 2 slipped sts over knit stitch
k..........knit
k2tog..........knit 2 stitches together
ssk..........slip 1 stitch, slip 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches together

THE PATTERN
PART A: Lace Skirt Edging
Using 5.0mm needle and contrast yarn, CO 80 stitches loosely.
Place marker, and join for knitting in the round.
Edging Round 1: [ k2, cdd, k2, yo, k1] repeat stitches in [ ] across round
Edging Round 2: [yo, k7] repeat stitches in [ ] across round
Repeat Edging Rounds 1 and 2 until work measures approximately 2cm from cast on edge.
PART B: Skirt
Purl one round
Change to main yarn
Knit every round until skirt measures approximately 14cm from cast-on edge.
PART C: Bodice
Change to 3.5mm needle
Bodice Round 1: k2, (k2tog, k1)x12, k4, (k2tog, k1)x12, k2 (56sts)
Bodice Round 2: p36, place marker, work in 1x1 rib (k1, p1) for 12sts, place marker, purl to end
of round
Bodice Round 3: knit to marker, work in established 1x1 rib pattern until next marker, knit to
end of round
Bodice Round 4: purl to marker, work in established 1x1 rib pattern until next maker, purl to end
of round
Repeat Bodice Rounds 3 & 4 one more time
Bodice Round 7: k6, ssk, yo, k12, yo, k2tog, knit to marker, work in established 1x1 rib pattern
until next marker, knit to end of round
Repeat Bodice Rounds 4 & 3 one more time
PART D: Strap Formation
Cast off stitches until you have 4 remaining before marker. Knit these 4sts, remove marker. Cast off the 1x1 rib loosely in pattern, stop when you reach next marker. Discard marker, knit 4sts, then continue to cast off the remaining stitches in the round.
You will be left with a cast off bodice, and two sets of live stitches on the needle – these are the base of your straps.
Knit the straps in garter stitch (knit every row) until they measure 10cm in length (unstretched). Cast off straps.
FINISHING
Sew in all ends.
Sew buttons on to straps. (alternatively whipstitch the straps to the bodice if you wish to avoid using buttons)
Gently hand wash, squeeze out excess moisture, and block/pin in shape – taking care to expand the lace edging out. Leave to fully dry before removing pins.
