Bonnet of Tid - Pattern Information
Bonnet of Tid is written for 5 sizes, and also 4 yarn weights; that’s 20 different size/gauge combinations to squish into one document!
In order to keep the pattern easy to follow, the Bonnet of Tid document utilises tables. Each size is easily identifiable by colour, however is still easy to follow if printed in black and white.
The pattern is relatively short to print - only 5 pages in total.
x-small (small newborn/prem, or estimated birthweight of 2.8kg - 3.0kg)
small (birth - 3 months)
medium (3 months - 1 year)
large (1 year - 3 years)
x-large (3 years +)
Yarn weights and meterage required:
4ply/fingering weight (300-350m/100g)
5ply/sport weight (250-300m/100g)
8ply/dk weight (200-250m/100g)
10ply/worsted weight (180-200m/100g)
All yarn weights use approximately the same meterages. These are very generous estimates:
x-small: 50m main colour + 40m contrast colour
small: 60m main colour + 50m contrast colour
medium: 70m main colour + 60m contrast colour
large: 90m main colour + 80m contrast colour
x-large: 110m main colour + 100m contrast colour
Note: main colour is the colour at the back of the bonnet, and the contrast colour is the colour at the front (where the ribbing and ties are)
